Summer is Alive and Well at LanierWorld

School may be back in session for many students and their parents throughout the Southeast, but that doesn’t mean the summer fun has to end! This year, Lanier Islands is proud to play host to our LONGEST SUMMER ADVENTURE SEASON EVER! Even the advent of Fall (which occurs on September 22nd) can’t stop us! The wave pool and waterslides of LanierWorld – our beach, boardwalk and entertainment district on the shores of Lake Lanier – will be rocking every Saturday and Sunday through October 1!

“Thanks to Atlanta’s temperate climate, we still have a lot of fun planned over the coming weeks to close out the season,” said Bucky Perry, Director of Operations for Lanier Islands. “Not only will Sunset Cove be open Friday through Sundays for fans of the beachfront bar and café, but LanierWorld will also be open on weekends as a nice break from the back-to-school blues. Local families won’t have to drive far to enjoy what’s left of summer, complete with toes in the sand, music in the air and sunny skies up above.”

In addition to LanierWorld’s signature brand of fun in the sun, events planned over the next few months include:

  • Splash-in Movies and Football on the Spectacular Screen – Every Saturday and Sunday, families can enjoy a unique way to watch a family-friendly film or football game – on a 5-story high HD screen that’s BIGGER than a drive-in screen from the comfort of their lounge chair on a half-mile stretch of white sandy beach!
  • Open-air Concerts on the Sunset Stage – We offer a unique twist on a dance club by bringing local and regional artists to our stage at Sunset Cove so you can go dancing on the sand under a sea of stars every Saturday and Sunday night! Artists include Fly Betty Band, Carl Testa, Karen Waldrup, Morgans Road, Johnny Summers, The Vegabonds, Joseph Erwin, Kali J., Reservoir Dogs and Whispering Gypsies.
  • Garage Games – August 25-27 – come one and all to take part in this hardcore 3-day Crossfit competition. Reward yourself afterward with a cocktail from Sunset Cove and a nice relaxing nap on the beach!
  • Labor Day Weekend Celebration – September 1-4 – this jam-packed holiday weekend includes two nights of fireworks, overnight staycation packages, live entertainment and more – PLUS the waterpark will be open on Labor Day Monday!
  • Full Moon Parties – scheduled on the Saturday closest to the full moon, these lunar-inspired events come complete with open-air concerts, street performers, fun & games, food & drink specials and FIREWORKS! Remaining Full Moon Parties for the season are scheduled for Saturday, September 9 and Saturday, October 7.
  • Swim Across America – September 23 – This open water swim designed to raise funds and awareness for pediatric oncology and leukemia research through Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta is open to swimmers of all ages between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

For additional events and activities at LanierWorld and throughout the Islands, be sure to bookmark our calendar of events and visit our activities page regularly! And don’t dismay – once LanierWorld has closed for the summer season on Sunday, October 1 – we’ve still got MORE fun in store! Stay tuned for details about Bark in the Waterpark on Saturday, October 7 and Sunset Cove Beer and Wine Fest on Saturday, October 14…
