Gratitude, that is what the Williams family and all of us here at Lanier Islands feel when it comes to our military, law enforcement, first responders, and their families. During the 2015 season of LanierWorld, we wanted to show our gratitude to all the men and women who serve our communities, who protect us on a daily basis, and who defend and have defended our country all over the world. It was then that the Williams family wanted to extend the thank you with not only free admission to LanierWorld, but for Magical Nights of Lights as well. As the news spread over the holidays, the number of police officers, firefighters, active duty military members, veterans, and their families steadily grew, reaching to over 10,000 families who were able to come out and enjoy our holiday tradition.
Director of Marketing of Lanier Islands, Cindy Wahl, did not want to stop there, as she stated in a press release just recently. ” Just because the holidays have come and gone, that doesn’t mean the Islands’ show of appreciation to our local heroes has to end. We’re truly thrilled that this endeavor has coincided so beautifully with the recent launch of Hall County’s new ‘Back the Badge’ campaign – designed to show support for and solidarity with members of law enforcement.” Mrs. Wahl added, “We encourage other local businesses and individuals to jump on the #backthebadge bandwagon, too. Given the incredibly supportive nature of the community that surrounds us, I have no doubt that we can all work together to make this campaign viral. Anyone who wants to take part can learn more about ‘Back the Badge’ on the HallCounty.org website.”
On January 20th 2016, Lanier Islands proudly stood with Hall County law enforcement at the entrance of the islands to capture our support with the #BackTheBadge campaign. The weather was not on our side, but that was not going to stop our campaign to show we back the badge. While raining and sleeting, Lanier Islands employees huddled in front of our entrance sign to show our appreciation, our gratitude, and support to those who serve our community.
