An All-Day Summer Concert So Good… It’s Scary

Get Amped for the Return of Monsters of Mock to Lanier Islands June 17

Do you have a family member – Dad or husband, perhaps – who plays a mean air guitar, knows all the words to many of the rock songs of the ‘80’s and ‘90’s, occasionally tears up during his favorite power ballads and may have once rocked a classic mullet? If you answered “yes” to one or more of those options, Lanier Islands has the perfect idea for an early Father’s Day present: a seat on the lawn or beach for the return of Monsters of Mock on Saturday, June 17. Presented by 97.1 The River and Lanier Islands at the beach, boardwalk and waterpark entertainment district known as LanierWorld, Monsters of Mock pays tribute to the Monsters of Rock music festival of the ‘80’s and ‘90’s. Rather than bring show-stopping, head-banging A-listers like Guns and Roses, KISS, Judas Priest, Motley Crüe, Bon Jovi and more to the shores of Lake Lanier, Lanier Islands introduces a rocking roster of cover artists and tribute bands for an all-day summer concert so good… it’s scary!  Throughout the day, 97.1 The River will hold a beachfront live broadcast from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. while the following bands* step onto the Sunset Cove stage before a crowd of adoring fans:

12:30-1:30 p.m.                 Acoustic Artist – Sean Thomason

2:15-3:45 p.m.                   80’s Tribute Band – Sunset Strip

4:30- 6 p.m.                        Alternative Rock Cover Project – Krotona

6:45- 8:15 p.m.                  Cheap Trick Tribute Band – Dream Police

9:00-11:00 p.m.                 Monsters of Mock Headliner and Foreigner Tribute Band – Head Games

In addition to live music, LanierWorld – open 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. – will play host to its signature brand of fun in the sun with more than a dozen waterslides and attractions, beach volleyball, minigolf, ½ mile stretch of white sandy beach, movies on the 5-story high Spectacular Screen, and a slew of eateries and watering holes from which to choose. To add to the music festival feel, Monsters of Mock’s radical revelry also includes street performers such as stilt walkers, jugglers, face painters, hula hoopers and temporary tattoo artists. Admission to Monsters of Mock is free for LanierWorld season pass holders or with daily admission. For those who wish to attend the all-day concert only and enjoy access to the beach and restaurants, admission is just $15.

After a long day of rockin’ to his favorite jams, you might want to consider rounding out Father’s Day with an overnight stay at Lanier Islands’ newly renovated Legacy Lodge followed up with a bangin’ breakfast buffet at Sidney’s Restaurant. Check out our accommodation packages and give dad a Father’s Day weekend to remember. Rock on!
